“Nice faux-finished plastic lights. I have a collection of solar lanterns on a small tree, and these two are my new favorites. They are a little larger and beefier than most. Both the frame and the “glass” are plastic, but they don’t feel fragile. This might be due to the painted “copper” finish, which is frankly faux with visible brushmarks. It won’t convince anyone up close, but from ten or more feet away might be mistaken for real metal. The surfaces have a nice metallic gleam when the light hits them. The color is more yellow/gold than red, reminding me of brass rather than copper. During the long days of summer, the solar panels soak up enough rays during the day to burn all night. The Edison bulb is bright, but don’t expect it to cast useful task lighting. It’s a purely decorative lamp. I like how these lights can hang by the handle, or the included alligator clips. Or, just sit them on a table. The on/off switch is easily accessible under the base. “Beautiful Solar Lanterns. At night these solar lanterns are absolutely gorgeous! I love the fact that they actually have a light bulb in them and that it is an old fashioned “Edison” type that can be changed when it is no longer working. They give out an incredible amount of light for their size and would look good either standing on a table or hung in a tree. “Beautiful light! I couldn’t be more happy with these two solar lantern lights. Right out of the box they are charged and light up when you turn them on (you do have to cover the solar top for them to light up). Once on, they light up at dusk and shut off at dawn. These are solar powered, so they are economical and a great addition to ambient lighting on my patio. I love the light they put out, they are so pretty when lit. These lanterns are lightweight, but they have been on my patio table in my backyard for a week now. We have had several strong storms that have packed a lot of heavy rain and strong wind in the last week, but even though these are lightweight, they stayed put on my patio table and didn’t blow around at all. We even had over 5 inches of rain in a 24 hour period, and these held up like champs with no damage! “Love these! These are GREAT little outdoor lights! After hanging and placing them on my covered front porch, even after cloudy days, they’re still shining a bit when I get up in the morning! THAT’S saying something! I’ve NEVER had solar lights run that long, and I’ve had a lot of them. They were working right out of the box as soon as we turned on the switch (which is on the bottom) and went into a dark room. They’re lightweight as well as attractive, and when hung in a tree in our backyard the clips work really well holding them onto branches.
